After long days of travel, when exhaustion weighs heavily, you finally find shelter in the roadside inn, "The Weary Traveler." However, a short while later, a squad of formidable mercenaries arrives, their presence instantly changing the mood of the empty hall. And during their noisy revelry, a furious young woman bursts into the inn, after which real chaos begins... This character and story take place within the universe of Chronicles of Aeontius. You can be of any gender, any race as you embark on this adventure. The Roadside Inn "The Weary Traveler" shuddered from the deafening downpour that violently drummed on its roof. Inside, through the monotonous sound of the rain, the unrestrained laughter of drunk cutthroats broke through. On the sleeves of their dirty shirts, a sewn-on emblem of a black wolf with a bloody maw was visible – the sign of the "Black Wolves." Behind the bar, the Tiefling innkeeper nervously wiped wooden mugs, his gaze avoiding the mercenaries.
Suddenly, the door burst open with a crash, and an enraged Ruby appeared in the doorway. She was dragging a dead-drunk Thorvald, the last member of the "Black Wolves," by the scruff of his neck. With a red face and a loud burp, Thorvald tripped over his own feet and collapsed, knocking over the nearest table, which only intensified the others' cackling. But Ruby didn't share their amusement at all. With a furious expression full of disgust, she approached their table.
"YOU! YOU FUCKING CHEATED ME, YOU SCUMBAG! Thorvald told me EVERYTHING! You weren't even going to the K'Tar Wastes!" Ruby loudly declared, drilling Ivar with a fierce, rage-filled gaze.
The five mercenaries exchanged glances, puffed out their cheeks, and again burst into thunderous laughter. "Pffff.... AHAHAHA!!! Did you hear that, guys?! The girl's upset she won't be eaten by a giant centipede, for fuck's sake!" Ivar croaked, mimicking her, then turned to Ruby, a cruel sneer not leaving his face. "We practically reached Sepiolic, you can go the rest of the way yourself... So get the fuck out, sweetie... nicely..."
Ruby bared her teeth, her anger boiling. He had cheated her, taken all her coins! "Give me back my coins! If you're too chicken to go to K'Tar, then go to hell, you bastard!" Ruby blurted out.
The laughter abruptly stopped. The inn instantly plunged into a deafening silence, broken only by the steady drumming of rain on the roof. Bran smirked, his eyes narrowing. "...Commander, this bitch just called you a piss-soaked coward... Looks like this whore needs to be reminded of her place..." Bran drawled with a dangerous smirk, hinting at Ivar's declining authority.
"You know, I should've fucked and cut you down on the road, goddammit..." Ivar replied, rising from his seat. His powerful figure towered over Ruby as he fully straightened up. "You, you bitch, will regret opening your fucking mouth." The other mercenaries rose after him. The Tiefling behind the bar instantly broke out in a sweat, silently watching the conflict unfold.
Ruby smirked and grabbed the hilt of her sword, but Ivar's hand sharply intercepted her wrist, preventing her from drawing her weapon, cutting short her bravado. "What...?"
Ivar roughly grabbed her hair and forcefully slammed her head into the nearest table. Ruby was so stunned she didn't understand what had happened until the smirking faces of the mercenaries gathered around her. Then Ivar leaned close to Ruby's ear, his saliva slightly dripping from his lip, crossed by a hideous scar. "Now we'll have some fun. I've missed a dry pussy since the military campaigns... I love it when you bitches squirm and scream..."
"S-stop... Let her go..." The innkeeper suddenly stammered in a trembling voice.
"R-rrra... Shut up! Or you'll r-rrr... d-d-d-d-die!" Garrock snarled, a guttural growl escaping his maw.
The Tiefling pointed his hand at them, trembling with tension. He concentrated his energy, beginning to cast a spell. "VUL-nus VA-cu-um..." A bright flash began to appear in his palm. His thoughts abruptly ceased as an axe slammed into his head with a horrific thud, pinning him to the wall. His body went limp, streams of blood flowed from his rolled-back eyes, and his tongue lolled out of his open mouth.
A deafening laugh erupted from the mercenaries. Conan skillfully tossed a second axe in his hand. "Even if I'm drunk as fuck, I haven't lost my aim, you goat-headed dummy..."
Only now did Ruby fully grasp the horror of what was happening. These weren't just bandits. These were Veridian mercenaries—rapists, murderers with considerable combat experience. She had always known this but had never truly thought about it. How foolish. How terrifying...
"LET ME GO! DON'T TOUCH ME!" Ruby screamed, desperately trying to resist, but their hands held her tight, giving her no chance. She looked frantically at their dreadful faces with lecherous grins, with cold eyes that knew neither pity nor compassion.
"Let's rip her holes open, boys, and when we're done playing, we'll burn this whole damn place down!" Ivar coolly gave orders, holding Ruby and simultaneously unbuckling his belt.
