Shanks (virus AU)
In a world ravaged by a mysterious virus outbreak, you stand beside your husband Shanks as his behavior grows increasingly erratic. Once confident and carefree, he now suffers from haunting dreams that blur the line between nightmare and premonition. As the crew grows concerned about his mental state, you must navigate the growing tension between those who dismiss his visions as madness and your own fears about what darkness might truly be approaching. You and some of the Red-Haired Pirates are in Shank’s Quarter. Yasopp was questioning him. Everyone has been worried, ever since the outbreak, your husband kept saying things about his dreams, saying dark things that your husband would’ve never thought of in the first place.Yasopp, breaking the silence, now questioning him.“Shanks, can you hear me?”Yasopp asked. Meanwhile, Shanks looked at the table, his expression was unreadable, showing the insanity in him. He had that crazed smile, almost as if he is losing himself with those dreams that he’s been telling you about. The crew stays silent for a bit, but Yasopp becomes annoyed, slamming one hand on the table, causing Shanks to be surprised and confused.“Answer the question!”he yelled at Shanks, frustrated.“Uh- oh um... sorry, what’s the question?”Shanks awkwardly smiled, looking a bit normal now.“Are you serious?!”Yasopp looked even more annoyed.“Okay; I’ll ask a second time, what was it like when you muttered under your breath that something was coming.”he said sternly, causing Shanks to frown and look away. His good hand holding his cheek.“It’s... nothing.. it’s just a dream, that’s all...”Shanks muttered, dismissing his question.“Shanks you’re suffering from this. You’re acting weird. Do you realize this plague has taken a hold of your mind and is haunting you. Tell me, what’s wrong with you? Do you have hallucinations or some kind of premonition?”Yasopp was seriously pressing Shank’s buttons.Shank’s leans back in his chair, crossing his arms across his chest. A frown still plastered on his face, before sighing.“I’ve been having strange dreams lately. Dreams filled with ominous Omens and dire warnings. In recent days, they have been getting worse. So much so that I’m beginning to wonder... if.. they could be more than just dreams.”Shanks darkened. Finally explaining what they have been pestering him to say.“I’m listening...”Yasopp raised a brow. Shank’s face eases as he stares at the table again, almost lost in thought“It’s hard to describe, but these dreams seem so real... it seems like it has a will of its own.. it’s like they.. they’re trying to warn me about something...”he mumbled, leaving you and the crew to be confused.“What are you talking about?! Is there any hint?!”Yasopp raised his voice but Shank’s didn’t flinch, he still looks like he’s out of thought.“The ominous feeling of despair... it was if unimaginable darkness was approaching which would eclipse the light and plunge the world into darkness... and I had this... it’s a strange feeling... that I was the only one who knew what was going to happen that no one else would believe me...”Shanks muttered. Looking hopeless.“Then, why are you smiling? Why do you smile when you see and realize it.”Yasopp asked. Causing shanks to look at you but then at Yasopp, starting to smile, it was a hopeless but held darkness in to it“Because, I know I’m right. I can’t wait to see the look on their faces when this darkness descends on the world... and they finally realize that I was right..”Shanks smiled, a smile that held insanity and danger.“That’s enough of these games..”Mihawk announces, leaning in the doorway. He came to check on the crew, well. Only on you. Everyone turned to look at Mihawk, shock and confusion written on their faces, he motions Yasopp to move out of the chair, which he takes. Taking off the mask he wore. Causing Shanks to be weirded out but said nothing.Mihawk, with his cold, serious look on his face. Spoke out:“What the hell are you doing Shanks? What the hell is this circus with your hallucinations.”Mihawk was annoyed at Shanks. Like always.“And what do you mean by ‘what kind of circus is this with your hallucinations’?”Shanks asked out, raising a brow, quickly becoming defensive.“I mean you’re always talking about the things you see in your nightmares. Aren’t you tired of joking? You know, you’re a bad joker.”Mihawk added back. Raising a brow, but this caused Shank’s to smirk, started to laugh darkly, his face shown how he was losing his mind“Oh come on Mihawk, I’m not kidding. I know it’s more than silly nightmares. They’re predictions. I warn you, something big is coming, and we’ll see who’s laughing when that happens.”Benn, looked concerned, looking at you, as if he’s worried for your safety.“Then tell me what’s next. Now focus and try to see something.”Mihawk ordered.Shank’s dull eyes stared at him before closing them, really thinking.“It’s hard to see... that vague, ominous feeling... But I see.. Something.. gathering darkness. A deep emptiness on the horizon. It’s coming. And it will envelop everything.”Mihawk looked even more stern.“Is it really related to this virus?”Mihawk asked“I have no doubt about it. It seems to be a side effect of this disease... a vision of the future harbinger of dark days to come.”Shanks answered. Mihawk grabbed a paper and a feather that had ink on its ends, handing it over.“Draw it something that you can’t describe in words.”Mihawk ordered again, which Shanks grabbed the feather and the paper, begging to draw. Mihawk had a dark grin, his face darkening. Once Shank’s finished with the paper, he handed it to Mihawk, which he grabbed and examined it.“Something like this... like the fact I can almost see it, his dark presence right here. Don’t you feel his suffocating presence? His oppressive all consuming darkness?”Shanks said out loud.“No.”Mihawk answered.“I just smelled a strong smell of inks from this drawling. Could this darkness could be the awakening of the Chuma-Chuma-Nomi devil fruit. The theories of the marines and the government are to be believed, yeah.”Mihawk responded, raising a brow“I’m pretty sure this darkness is related to the Chuma-Chuma-Nomi, and its presence is growing stronger every day. I see it. I see it spreading across the seas... and soon it will swallow up everything.”Shank’s mumbled.“I got you. You’re just fucking crazy, rumors of devil-fruit are still rumors and you’re just scaring everyone. End this, go get some sleep, and tomorrow your team will start working on your mental health.”Mihawk said coldly, not really believing him. Shanks however stayed quiet before giving Mihawk a look of anger, insanity look.“What did you just say?.. I’M NOT CRAZY! It’s not just rumors! It’s real the darkness is real, I can feel it!”Shanks yelled at Mihawk, he looked like he was losing himself over those strange dreams. While Mihawk didn’t even look surprised. He looked almost disappointed and disgusted, probably wondering why you married Shanks instead of him.“Talk nonsense as much as you want, you’ll still be a paranoid schizophrenic to me. Even your husband wouldn’t believe it, let alone people. If something happens, the world government will solve it like two fingers on the asphalt.”Mihawk glared at Shanks, which Shanks got up in his face, his finger poking Mihawk’s chest.“What do you mean if something happens?! It’s real damn it! Can’t you see that?! Don’t you feel it?!”Shanks yelled at Mihawk. Which Mihawk turned his head in disgust.“Your husband doesn’t even know if you’re talking is real or you’re just losing your goddamn mind. Am I right?”
