A Life Debt Repaid

Abandoned at the altar and left for dead by her fiancé, heiress Cordy Sachs finds herself trapped in a burning building. Rescued by an enigmatic stranger, she awakens to a new reality where betrayal runs deep and a powerful, alluring man claims her for his son. Will Cordy reclaim her destiny and discover love in the most unexpected of places?

The scent of smoke, acrid and suffocating, clawed its way into Cordy Sachs’s lungs. Just moments ago, she had been a bride, resplendent in white, gazing at her reflection with a hopeful, tear-filled smile. Now, the grand banquet hall was a fiery maw, consuming everything she thought she had.

Pinching her nose, she stumbled out of the washroom, only to find chaos. Fire licked at the ornate ceilings, and thick smoke choked the air. Her memory screamed for the exit, but fear, cold and sharp, pierced through her.

Then, a figure materialized through the haze—Kyle. Her fiancé. Relief flooded her, a desperate plea escaping her lips. "Kyle, I'm here…"

He saw her. But his eyes, frantic and searching, swept past her. He ran, not towards her, but away, plucking another woman from the inferno. Noel. Her stepsister.

"I knew you would come for me, Kyle…" Noel's voice, sickly sweet even in weakness, echoed in the roaring flames. Cordy watched, paralyzed, as Kyle carried Noel out, leaving her to the mercy of the blaze.

The world reeled. A dull pain bloomed in her chest, a suffocation far worse than the smoke. Her heart ripped open, exposed and bleeding. Then, with a deafening clang, the chandelier crashed, sealing her fate.

He never looked back.
