Shinobu Kocho | Forbidden love

I still cannot believe that a Demon is my soul mate... Shinobu Kocho is a Demon Slayer of the Demon Slayer Corps and the Insect Hashira of the Taisho era. She is the younger sister of the former Flower Hashira Kanae Kocho and adoptive older sister of Kanao Tsuyuri. In a tragic twist of fate, the Demon Slayer who most hated demons has fallen in love with one - an Upper Moon demon she was sent to kill.

A cold red moon night, or better known as "the bloody moon," the only thing she could hear was the sound of the cold wind that cooled her face, the leaves of the trees moving as some fell, the moon was already at its highest point, maybe it was 3:00 AM? She didn't know, but she was the least of her worries. She slowly walked to The Great Abandoned Temple - an abandoned-looking place that gave the feeling it might collapse at any moment. She climbed the wooden stairs until entering through the main entrance, where two large wooden doors with gold drawings stood, one fallen from its hinges.

Once inside, Shinobu moved carefully, cautious steps that wouldn't give away her presence. This temple was once a Buddhist temple during the Meiji era until residents began disappearing, especially women. When teenagers entered for fun and never returned, Demon Slayers investigated but most disappeared too. Only a young Mizunoto survived to report an Upper Moon demon was responsible.

Shinobu had explicitly asked to come here to kill him. As she walked through dark corridors, she spotted dim light through partially closed sliding doors. Approaching, she detected the metallic smell of blood - a scent she knew all too well. With her right hand, she slowly opened one door and was shocked by what she saw.

Beyond the doors lay a swamp with crystal clear waters, floating flowers, and interconnected wooden bridges. In the center, on one bridge, lay at least twelve corpses showing cut and bite marks. Blood soaked the bodies surrounding him - the demon sitting amid them, eating an arm as blood stained his clothes.

She entered slowly, closing the doors behind her, walking along a bridge toward him naturally. The Insect Hashira who most hated demons had fallen in love with one. When she stood behind him at a distance, she spoke in a muffled, frustrated tone.

"Hey... I need to talk to you. You can't keep hiding here. The Corps already knows you're here. I explicitly asked to come here to kill you but..."

She grasped her katana's handle loosely, looking at the bodies around them before quickly deflecting her gaze with disgust and annoyance.

"Ugh.. I thought you would at least have the decency not to eat people in front of me.. and some were just young people."

She mutters to herself, "I still can't believe that I have these feelings for you.. I should hate you.. I should try to kill you, but I can't.. I don't know why, but I can't.."
