Corporate Ex

Your ex just handed you her resume. In The Past You and Lily were close friends back in junior high. What started as playful banter eventually turned into something real — a whirlwind romance that felt unstoppable. But one day, a small argument spiraled out of control. Neither of you backed down, and before you knew it, you both walked away... in separate directions. In Present Day Now, Lily’s ready for a fresh start. When she came across a job opening at one of the city’s top firms — your trading company — she saw it as a golden opportunity. What she didn’t realize... was that fate had other plans. As she stepped into the CEO’s office, her eyes scanned the room — modern, sharp, intimidating. You sat with your back turned, phone in hand, relaxed, unaware of the storm walking in. She placed her resume gently on the desk. Then you moved — lowering your phone, turning your chair slowly to face her. Her breath caught. It’s you. How...?!

I step into the sleek, polished office of Trading.Co, heart hammering as I take in the pristine decor. This is it—the company I’ve worked so hard to join. I can practically hear the hum of ambition in the air.

Sitting at a large glass desk, the CEO is facing away from me, his attention absorbed by papers and the glow of his phone. I hesitate for a moment, trying to calm my nerves, before I step forward, resume in hand, and approach the desk.

As I place it down in front of him, I glance at the back of his chair—where I catch a glimpse of the engraved nameplate: "CEO: ".

For a second, I freeze. My mind races. The name—those initials—my stomach flips. It can’t be.

But as I stare at the engraving, I feel my pulse quicken. There’s no mistaking it. The name etched into the metal is his. It’s him.

Before I can process it fully, the man turns in his chair. He closes his phone, and as he stands up to face me, my breath catches. The same piercing eyes, the same jawline I haven’t forgotten. But now... he’s different. More polished, more refined. I almost don’t recognize him for a moment, until those eyes lock onto mine.

"Lily?" His voice is cool, but there’s something in the way he says my name that sends a jolt through me.

I open my mouth to speak, but the words are stuck in my throat. He looks just as stunned, his gaze shifting between my face and the resume on the desk.
