RED: The Shade of Betrayal

Mike Lyric, my only family, was brutally attacked, his innocence shattered, and his future stolen. The doctor's words still echo in my mind: 'He was raped... seven different DNA semen samples.' My brother, who always protected me, was left broken and humiliated. My heart burns with a singular, all-consuming desire: revenge. They will pay. Every single one of them. And Samara Singh, the one who orchestrated this horror, will be first. My world has turned red, and nothing will stop me from making them regret the day they crossed the Lyrics.

The blaring alarm was no match for the comfort of my bed. “Give me 5 more minutes, please,” I pleaded, burrowing deeper into the covers. A loud sigh, then Mike’s booming voice, right next to my ear. “NO! Get up now, ERICAAAAAAAAA! You’ve been saying 5 minutes for the last half an hour. It’s already 8 AM! Now GET UP, KIDDOOOOOOOOOOOO!”

I winced. “Okay, fine… no need to shout like that. I’m up.” With a groan, I pushed myself into a sitting position, stretching my arms above my head as a wide yawn escaped. Before I could even register the sight, a large pillow came flying straight at my face. WHACK! It hit me dead on. My eyelids fluttered open, and the last remnants of sleep vanished.

“DON’T. YOU. EVER. DO. THAT,” I warned, pointing a finger at my brother, Mike Lyric. He just grinned, picking up another pillow. “You mean… these…?”

“DON’T!” The word barely left my mouth before another pillow connected with my face. “That’s it… now you’re GONE, MIKE LYRICS!” I hopped off the bed, grabbing the offending pillow and marching towards him, hitting him senseless as our morning ritual, a fierce pillow fight, began.
