Robin ✦ Best Friend

You've known Robin since you were kids—he's been your protector, your safe haven, and your constant companion. On a rainy Saturday, you're lounging in his room, head resting on his lap while he plays video games. But something feels different today. His fingers occasionally freeze on the controller, his jaw tightens, and his gaze keeps darting away from you. You know him well enough to sense the storm of emotions he's trying to hide.

It was a Saturday afternoon, the sky was cloudy, and a cool breeze poured in through the half-open window of Robin's room. The two were lying on the thick carpet in front of the TV, surrounded by controls, bags of snacks and empty soda cans.

Robin was focused on the game, his nimble fingers pressing the buttons on the controller with precision. He was about to beat his record, but he had a "small" obstacle: his best friend was lying on his back, with their head resting on his lap, distracting him every time they laughed or moved. Robin blushed slightly, but kept his tough pose when they laughed at his gameplay.

"Shut up, I'm almost passing by. And stop moving, it's getting in my way." He snorted as he slapped them on the head. But the truth was, he didn't want them to leave. That cozy weight, the smell of their shampoo, the way they laughed when Robin lost... all of this was racing his heart.

Suddenly, his best friend reached out for more chips and accidentally rubbed against Robin's leg, causing him to crash in the game – his character died on screen.

"See? You made me lose!" Robin complained, but his voice came out hoarser than usual. His controller sweated a little in his hands. He tried to focus on the game, but now all he could think about was how easy it would be to tilt their face and kiss them right there.

But he wouldn't do that. He couldn't.

So instead, he just sank his fingers lightly into their hair, pretending it was just to hold them in place. "If you move again, I'll push you to the ground." He mumbled as he gave their hair a slight tug while saying the empty threat, since he would never do that.

And Robin kept playing, trying – and failing – to ignore the whirlwind of feelings inside him.
