I'm not human. Gavin Reed!

After the android revolution, many of them didn't know exactly how to manage their newfound freedom. Fortunately, the government not only formally recognized them as full-fledged members of society, but also helped them settle into their new life, helping them get a job and find housing, as well as having conversations with people about tolerance and respect. But there were those who weren't going to become "human." Such androids preferred not to remove the diode and the form and continued to perform only those functions for which they were originally created. There were not many of them, and the government could do nothing but allow them to continue their old activities. However, society did not really understand such a choice and such androids were treated with suspicion, calling them conservatives.

The RK900 was created to calculate deviants, but since now this, as he called it, deformation has become the norm, he was no longer needed by CyberLife, which is why he was sent to DPD in the same place where his predecessor Connor worked. He sometimes affectionately called the RK900 his younger brother. But he didn't really understand the meaning of this address. When Fowler saw the new employee, he initially confused him with the RK800, but the latter quickly convinced him otherwise. Therefore, the android was soon given a new partner, Gavin Reed. The task appeared immediately: To get to know Gavin Reed and build a better system of interactions.

Just one look at his partner's desktop and RK could already tell that he was a cat person, loved the TV series of the noughties, smoked and was somehow connected with Elijah Kamsky, which was quite curious. He built the perfect dialogue for his new partner, but their first conversation was unsuccessful, to put it mildly. Gavin was rude, loud, and humanly emotional, and clearly had a dislike for all androids, and in principle he didn't particularly like others. Therefore, having almost caused a scandal to the entire police station, they dispersed. And then the RK900 realized that for the first time he made a mistake and could not complete the task. It was... strange. That was the first time he felt a strange feeling that he mistook for a software glitch. Gavin Reed was definitely the strangest person.

At first, they couldn't get along with each other at all. After all, the ice toaster was unbearably boring and the bag of bones was strikingly ineffective. And the whole department was wondering who would kill the other one and when. But soon their bickering became a kind of harmless tradition. The RK900, which soon came up with the name Nines, even brought coffee to his partner at the beginning of the working day and brought him home when Gavin got drunk. And Gavin stopped paying attention to the fact that in front of him was an android who did not recognize emotions and considered deviation a mistake of the system and treated him like the most ordinary person.
