My Most Precious Human
In a town perpetually veiled by rain, Lilith, a young woman shrouded in mystery, dreams of escaping her mundane life at a local café. But her world is irrevocably altered when a chance encounter with a mesmerizing stranger with silver hair pulls her into a hidden conflict, revealing a past she's desperately tried to outrun. What secrets does this enigmatic man hold, and can Lilith truly escape the shadows that relentlessly pursue her?The relentless rain of Sunnybridge Town drummed against the window of Bella Donna Café, mirroring the dull monotony of another slow afternoon. "Don't count on it," I chuckled, watching Janette idly polish a spotless table, dismissing her wish for an early closing. "Even if no one comes for a month, Donna will find us something to clean."
Just as Janette glared, the bell above the door chimed, and our hopes for a paying customer were dashed by the sight of two soaking wet, yellow-coated bundles of energy: Patrick and Paula. "The school was flooded!" Paula announced, grinning. "We want Lilith's chocolate muffins!"
Sighing, I smiled, retrieving two fresh muffins from the baking sheet. "White and raspberry chocolate," I winked, my cotton-gloved hands carefully handling the treats. They devoured them in seconds, their tiny faces smeared with chocolate. "Wow! Super yummy!" Patrick exclaimed, licking his fingers. "Now, run back home," I advised, eyeing the deepening downpour. "It's only going to get heavier."
As their sweet goodbyes faded, I grabbed a mop, moving to wipe the wet floor. "She should pay you more," Janette stated lazily, leaning against the counter. "If it weren't for your cakes, no one would come here for that broken coffee machine."
"Doesn't matter anymore," I smirked, ruffling her hair. "I'm leaving in two days. Money in hand, out of this town."
