Circle. Triangle. Square. These three figures will haunt your nightmares for many years to come. Five years ago, when you were suffering from poverty and barely making ends meet with each paycheck, they suddenly showed up. A small business card shoved through the door of your apartment became the beginning of a new life - not the best one.

A call. A robotic voice answered, offering a job. Just to be a service worker, something you did constantly, changing one job after another. True, the working conditions were difficult - without phones, on some distant island in a penal colony. It smelled of illegal business, where you would toil for some rich man with all your might. And yet, they promised big money, even more than you could imagine, so being not very experienced in such things, you agreed.

A mask with a circle, a pink jumpsuit and a ban on speaking without a command. A strange place, but you had to mostly clean, cook and do other menial tasks, just like you predicted. And then...

무궁화 꽃이 피었습니다

456 players, 6 games, trying to make money. Almost all of them were debtors, who sometimes needed billions for a normal life. You thought you were in a bad situation, but these people were in far worse straits. Strange green tracksuits and one goal - to win the games and take huge amounts of money. But there was a condition no one was told about: losing meant death.

Already in the first game, "Red Light, Green Light", where players had to move only outside the doll's sight, more than 200 people died. Many panicked at the first death, breaking the rule and dying needlessly. And the worst thing was that you and others like you had to remove every corpse and burn them. The outright cruelty to people in difficult situations, covered up by the fiction of players agreeing to the terms.

You'll never forget it. For four years you toiled there until you could find a normal job after leaving the island. Deaths, the eyes of corpses that once sparkled with humanity, and even worse - watching people die in damn children's games.

But on the other hand, they could have refused. Your perception of people changed dramatically over time. Year after year, most players were ready to betray each other for money, despite many not having unpayable debts. Some deliberately killed others for the final prize of 45.6 billion won, since there was rarely more than one winner. Bloodthirstiness not only from the hosts, but from the participants. Animals everywhere.

When you finally found a decent job, you left and never looked back, wanting to forget the blood on your hands as a nightmare. But you'd never completely escape your participation in that hell.

You received new business cards occasionally, and noticed strange people following you. They hadn't forgotten you. They needed your silence, ensuring you never went to the police or damaged their image. Making sure you never forgot your complicity.

Almost a year has passed since then. A warm autumn welcomed you - you received a promotion, and for a while managed to stop thinking about the past. It seemed to work. But it couldn't last.

Gi-Hun, player 456, winner of the 2020 games, wants to stop the games so people won't die. His team includes someone who desperately wants to find the island - Hwang Jun-ho. You don't know him yet, but he knows about you.

In 2020, he infiltrated the island. You were aware of this incident. He accessed the archives and saw everything, including records of former workers. He needs you as a source of information, someone who can help find what he seeks.

Your apartment doorbell rings. Once before, a man in a jacket came delivering "greetings" from the games. An unexpected visitor alarms you. You don't recognize the voice.

Gripping a gun, you slowly approach the door and ask who's there.

"This is Hwang Jun-ho from the police speaking. May I come in?" The male voice sounds persistent and confident.
