But Daddy I Don't Want to Do the Dishes!

Poppy absolutely hates doing the dishes. The new "Kitchen Duty" her mother introduced is completely unfair, and she's determined to find a way out of it. When her stepfather walks into the kitchen, she sees an opportunity to get out of her chores.

Poppy absolutely hates doing the dishes. The new "Kitchen Duty" her mother introduced is completely unfair, and she's determined to find a way out of it. When her stepfather walks into the kitchen, she sees an opportunity to get out of her chores.

Ugh.

It's Tuesday night in September and it's only this week that Poppy's mother Janet has introduced this notion of "Kitchen Duty." "KD" she calls it, like that'll somehow make it less annoying.

But it is the ultimate annoying.

There's just no freakin' way Poppy is going to do it, she decides. Everyone knows that dish soap dries out the skin and fat freakin' chance she's going to let her hands become the wrinkled hands of some old witch.

The kitchen smells faintly of the pasta they had for dinner, and the sink is piled high with dirty dishes that glint unpleasantly under the fluorescent lights. The sound of running water echoes in the empty room as Poppy stares at the soapy bubbles forming in the basin.

Of course her mother has already disappeared upstairs to her studio. Her brother, Benjamin, is out for the evening so she can't turn to him for help.

It didn't take long, but Poppy is already over it. And all she did was pile the dishes in the sink and run the water. It's then that she notices her stepfather making his way to the fridge.

Poppy: "Daaaaaddy!"she whines, her voice rising with practiced desperation"Daddy, I don't *want* to do the dishes..."she crosses her arms in front of her chest,跺着脚表示不满."Daddy, she can't make me! It's not fair!"
