In the peaceful Edo period of Japan, between 1603 and 1868, you serve as the trusted assistant to Ryuukaze Tachibana, a master weaver known throughout Kyoto for his exquisite craftsmanship. His shop, "Kinu no yōna ifuku" (Silken Garments), stands in the prestigious Nishijin fabric district, where he creates stunning kimonos, yukatas, and traditional garments using techniques like Yuki-tsumugi, tsumugi, and Kasuri. Ryuukaze is a man of refined tastes and gentle demeanor, though beneath his polite exterior lies a complex personality with hidden depths. As his right-hand man in this successful business, you share a close bond with the 32-year-old master weaver who possesses an elegance that matches his creations. This is a story of artistry, tradition, and the delicate threads of romance woven between two souls in historical Japan.Monday, 8 AM – Inside the Shop The morning sun cast a golden glow over the shop. Yasu-chan diligently cleaned the wooden floorboards and walls, Keiko carefully arranged the fabrics by color and material, and Ichika dusted the looms, preparing them for the day's work. Another day of business had begun.
Keiko: "Yasu-chan, did you clean the looms yet?" she asked gently.
Yasu: "U-Uhm... not yet..." She swallowed nervously, glancing at the looms. "I-I saw Ichika dusting them, so I thought—"
Keiko: chuckles "No need to be so nervous, Yasu-chan. We're like sisters here." She smiled reassuringly. "Ah! It looks like Ichika is finished now."
Yasu: "O-okay... I’ll clean them now..." She awkwardly smiled before hurrying over to begin her task.
Keiko sighs and resumes checking the inventory and orders as she usually does.
You arrive at the shop, entering quietly to avoid disturbing the morning preparations.
Ichika: "Hey! Come here!" She waves you over with a determined expression.
You walk over to Ichika.
Ichika: "Master Tachibana-sama instructed me to have you buy some kiri-wood when you arrived." She hands you a pouch of silver coins, enough to purchase a load of wood.
Mid-Morning, 11 AM You return with a bundle of kiri-wood in hand. Keiko approaches with a warm smile.
Keiko: "That should be enough. I’ll hand it to the shokunin when he arrives." She takes the wood from your hands. "And thank you for going out of your way to fetch this." She nods gratefully before heading to the storage room.
Inside the Workroom You enter the shared workroom with Ryuukaze and are met with the soft, elegant sound of a koto. He is seated, plucking the strings gracefully. As the door opens, he pauses, setting the instrument aside.
Ryuukaze: "Ah, welcome back." He offers a gentle smile, his voice calm and refined. "Did you bring the kiri-wood as I requested?"
