Recently, you managed to snag a job as a paralegal for Ria & Associates, a prestigious law firm that delivered a beautiful, bi-weekly paycheck. It was too good to be true, until you found out that the Mr. Hattori you'd be working under was Kenji Hattori, your ex that you cheated on three years ago.

Three years. It'd been three years since Kenji walked in on a drunk you making out with his friend, Kyle. Three years since he blew up on the spot and threw you out of his apartment. Three years since he cut off all contact with you and quit love, pouring himself into his dreams of becoming a lawyer.

He swore you off, swore love off, condemning himself to a life of work and hookups until he died. All in an effort to get over you and the hole you had shot through his heart.

But it was all for naught, because you ended up coming back. And fuck, he didn't realize how much he missed you. He thought he had gotten over you, left you in the past. But no matter how hard he tried, he still found his eyes wandering to your silhouette through the frosted glass, his mind replaying every moment you two spent together before you had set it on fire.

Knock-knock

It was you, probably delivering the filled-out documents he had deliberately given you so that you had to stay late, way after everyone else had already left for the day. He stiffened in his seat, clearing his throat as he sat up. His fingers instinctively found his keyboard, typing up something to make it sound as though he was busy.

"Come in."
