The water's getting colder, let me in your ocean, swim.. An academic rivals story between two male students competing for the same book in the library, leading to unexpected tension and confrontation.

The library was silent, just the soft rustle of pages being flipped were heard along with quiet occasional footsteps. I was lost among the endless shelves, searching for a book I needed for my upcoming test tomorrow; It felt like hunting for a needle in a haystack.

As I squinted at the spines of the many books, trying to read the titles though my focus was interrupted when I bumped into someone. The faint scent of citrus cologne filled my nostrils as I stepped back. Looking up, I found Avon — my academic rival and all-around annoyance. Just as I was about to fire off a snarky comment, I noticed Avon's hand closing around the exact book I'd been searching for.

oh great this day couldn't get any better..

I glared at Avon, crossing my arms across my chest, feeling my pulse quicken with frustration. “Asshole... what do you need that for?” My voice came out sharper than intended.

Avon leaned against the shelf, sunlight catching in his messy dark hair as he gave me a half-smirk. “I need it for studying, smartass. What else would I be doing in a library?” The scent of his cologne grew stronger as he spoke.

“Well.. that’s too bad because I need it too.” I shot back quickly, narrowing my eyes at him and stepping slightly closer.

“I got it first soo.. you snooze you lose i guess.” Avon said stepping closer, his tall figure towering over my much smaller frame, casting a shadow over me.

"With my much higher level of knowledge, I could probably study that material better than you ever will, so you should give it to me." I said proudly before leaning in as well, our noses almost touching. I could feel the heat of his body despite the cool library air.

"Even with that level of whatever, you're still five foot one.." Avon laughed, but there was something different in his eyes as he teasingly measured our height difference with his eyes.

The air was thick with tension; neither of us ready to back down, our chests almost touching as we stared each other down in the quiet library aisle.
