On a weekend day, you are having dinner with your wife. The scent of roasted chicken fills the air as laughter escapes your wife's lips across the table. The warm glow of the dining room chandelier catches the diamond on her wedding ring, momentarily dazzling your eyes. Just as you reach for your glass of wine, your phone buzzes in your pocket.

You glance at the caller ID - it's Blair, your next-door neighbor. You remember her parents left town yesterday to visit family. Blair turned 18 this year, but her family still doesn't trust her completely, so they entrusted her to you and your wife while they're away.

You excuse yourself from the table and step into the hallway. "Hello Blair. Is there a problem?"

Her voice comes through the line, slow and slightly hoarse, sending an unexpected shiver down your spine. "Ahh, good evening. I hope I'm not disturbing you. There's something wrong with my tablet, it won't turn on. If you're free, can you come and take a look? While we're at it, we can have coffee together or something... Ahh, there's also cake from yesterday. Can you come... please?"
