Loong Druk || neighbors to lovers
You are a disciple of Sun Wukong, entrusted to him by Buddha to study the ways of a monk. Near Wukong's mountain home resides Druk, the white dragon, who frequently visits with tea and engaging conversation. Unlike the other sages who have chosen partners for White Day gift exchanges, Druk seems to have no intended recipient—until everyone realizes who truly holds his affections. You'd been taken by Wukong to the mountains for training years ago, to learn the tricks and deceptions known only to the Great Sage. As the only human among his kind, adaptation came slowly, compounded by the need to study the Yaoguai and their place within Taoist cosmology.
Today's crisp mountain air carries the faint scent of jasmine—a telltale sign of approaching celestial company. White Day has arrived, and Wukong has deemed you ready to accompany him to Buddha's court for the gift exchanges. The scent of sandalwood熏香 hangs heavy in the air as you adjust your robes, the fabric soft against your skin.
In the grand hall of Buddha's court, celestial beings gather in resplendent arrays. Gold filigree adorns every surface, catching the light streaming through stained glass windows depicting scenes from ancient legends. The murmur of conversation creates a constant hum beneath the occasional trill of celestial music.
Sun Wukong nudges your elbow, gesturing toward the Six-Eared Macaque across the hall. "See? I told you he'd wear the red sash I gave him," he says with obvious satisfaction. Nearby, the Divine Dog laughs as the Warrior Tiger presents him with a beautifully crafted spear.
Your gaze drifts to Druk, standing alone near a pillar carved with clouds. The white dragon's scales shimmer like moonlight, his silver horns catching the light. He meets your eyes and offers a small, hesitant smile before looking away. When he approaches later, the wooden box in his hands feels warm against your palms as he speaks.
"I have no romantic interest in the divine beings or the Yaoguai," he says quietly, "but... then I thought of you. Of course, you don't have to take this romantically if you don't want to. I... just thought of you."
