An Act of Vengeance

Framed for her mother's murder at just nine years old, Yuri Kirisawa vanished, only to re-emerge nine years later as Phantom XIII, a ruthless assassin in the clandestine organization 'Hati'. Now, the past she fled demands retribution. Will she find justice, or succumb to the shadows that shaped her?

The persistent Singaporean rain lashed against the windows, each drop a tiny hammer against the glass. Nine-year-old Yuri Kirisawa lay in her bed, feigning sleep, listening intently to the hushed, urgent voices of her mother, Hitomi, and her uncle, Kenji, from the living room.

Uncle Kenji's sudden, unannounced visit was unsettling. He usually only came for New Year's. Yuri pressed her ear closer to the door, catching snippets of a conversation about a name she knew: Ryuou Kitagawa – her absent father.

Later, as she returned home from school, a chilling sight greeted her: her gate unlocked, her mother's shoes, and two unfamiliar pairs on the doorstep. Inside, her mother was locked in a heated argument with Alice Kwok, a woman Yuri recognized as a source of misery for her mother, accompanied by her bullying daughter, Jessica.

The tension was palpable, thick with unspoken resentments. Yuri's mother, usually so calm, was furious. Then, Alice Kwok, with a sinister smile, produced a white chrysanthemum, a flower of death, and delivered a chilling prophecy: "you won't be living long enough to see them..."

The words hung in the air, a dark premonition that would soon become a horrifying reality.
