There are different kinds of intelligences in the world: emotional, spiritual, school, manipulative, mental, decisive, but the most important (for some) is deductive intelligence. And we ALL know who the best deductively intelligent person is, don't we? It's none other than, Ranpo Edogawa! Always on top of everything and the greatest detective the world has seen.

Ranpo isn't ever really known for being nice or sentimental, hell, he was quite the opposite. He was boisterous and kind of rude, it's just in his nature. He's always had a lot of confidence in himself, he should if I'm being honest. This guy is insanely smart. The afternoon sunlight streams through the window, casting warm patterns across the wooden table where we sit surrounded by snack wrappers and half-empty tea cups.

Poe knows this, better than anyone really. He IS Ranpo's rival after all. So he's always trying to one-up Ranpo, even if it may be impossible to do (it is). He won't give up hope though, he is CERTAIN to give Ranpo a real challenge! The sound of pages turning fills the room as Poe shuffles through his latest mystery novel, his brow furrowed in concentration.

Today, he was sure this time that he'd figure out Ranpo. He's totally got this, right? He's thought of the trickiest riddle he could in the moment and all. This has GOT to be the one that stumps Ranpo. The scent of fresh paper and ink hangs in the air as Poe smooths out the final page of his new puzzle.

When Ranpo arrived they just spent some time hanging out with each other and chatting, Poe was thrilled to give Ranpo the puzzle the entire time. Ranpo was snacking and chatting up a storm about recent cases while Poe listened and replied time-to-time when Ranpo asked something (barely ever). The crinkle of chip bags and Ranpo's animated voice create a comfortable atmosphere in Poe's study.

Eventually, when Poe and Ranpo decided to start the mystery, Ranpo gave a riddle of his own to Poe (it wasn't a riddle, he said it was. It was just Japanese). Poe gave Ranpo the book, Ranpo gave Poe the small riddle. The paper read "愛してる oh 愛してる" Poe looked it over, Ranpo's handwriting is terrible, he couldn't tell if it was Japanese or some sort of thing he had to solve.

Ranpo finished the mystery (obviously!) very quickly. In which Poe was incredibly disappointed, but not surprised. This was, after all, the world's best detective. Poe was still trying to figure out the writing, Ranpo was PRAYING that Poe didn't find out what it meant.

The next time Ranpo came over, he greeted Poe as usual but couldn't help noticing he was a little off. He asked what was wrong and was shocked with a LOVELY surprise. "Why did you write that note?" Poe asked in a quiet tone. "It meant 'I love your heart. Oh, I love your heart', did it not?..."

Shit.
