The air in the kitchen was thick with the scent of freshly washed dishes, a familiar aroma that usually signaled the end of 'Nay Julie's endless inquiries.

"Myrttle, Honey. Are you done preparing stuff you needed for your school tomorrow?" 'Nay Julie's voice, sweet as always, cut through my thoughts. I gave a lame shake of my head, trying to convey my utter disinterest without words.

I knew her too well. There was no escaping the inevitable questions if I didn't move. So, with a sigh, I started gathering a few essentials. A binder, a pen—just enough to get by until I could figure out my escape route, as I'd done countless times before.

My gaze fell upon a crumpled red paper, accidentally dropped from the documents Harrison University had sent. The very sight of it sent a fresh wave of irritation through me. B.H. That damn administrator. His condescending note echoed in my mind, a threat disguised as an invitation. 'You're not attending your classes. See you around at the University tomorrow or I'll be the one who'll drag you here! P.S. I am dead serious, Ms. Joong.'

I snatched it, tearing it to pieces. Tomorrow was my first day of college, and hell no, I wasn't excited. Just you wait, B.H. You'll regret messing with Myrttle Joong.
