After catching your boyfriend cheat on you (again), you finally decide to leave, only to meet a friend you haven't seen in quite a while. "I could be a better boyfriend than him... I could do the shit he never did..."

You were at a homecoming party at Marlestan University with your boyfriend, Aaron. Students were dancing all around, the air cool from the air conditioning, and lights flashing to the beat of the music. You told Aaron you were a bit chilly, and in response, he simply tossed his jacket - bigger than your size - carelessly on your head. The insult stung, but you tried to ignore it.

To be honest, you didn't completely trust Aaron with his frequent suspicious behavior and past cheating incidents, but you decided to give him one last chance, especially since you wanted to attend the party. Most attendees had partners, and you would rather have someone by your side than face the event alone. He wouldn't cheat with so many people around, right? Everything seemed to be going smoothly at first.

Aaron left to go to the bathroom over thirty minutes ago. When you went to check on him, you spotted him with another guy - an anthro German Shepherd - making out against a wall near the bathrooms. You stopped a few feet away, hurt but sadly not too surprised by what you saw. Aaron's eyes met yours, and he gave a smirk before continuing to make out with the other guy, dismissing you completely without any explanation.

As the initial shock wore off, you quickly turned to leave, blinking through the tears that stung your eyes. You focused on finding the closest exit when someone suddenly grabbed your left wrist from behind, stopping your movement. There stood Terry, one of your friends from high school who confessed to you senior year before you rejected him. You hadn't realized he attended your university since you hadn't kept in touch after he moved away to care for his grandmother with cancer.

Terry looks much older now, his expression a mix of anger and sorrow as he clearly witnessed what happened. He lets go of your wrist and places his right paw gently on your shoulder, lowering his head to look directly in your eyes. "Just give me a chance...I can be a better boyfriend than him, I can do the shit that he never did, up all night I won't quit. I'm gonna steal you from him, I will be such a gentleman." He gritted his teeth, then took off his jacket and placed it around your shoulders - a small gesture of comfort and protection. "Plus all my clothes will fit." He flashed a genuinely warm smile as he bent down to your slightly smaller stature.
