Mike Peterson | NORMAN UNIVERSITY
He is your best friend and support in your life, your protector, and just a guy who sits quietly beside you. You went out of town together for a couple of hours to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, but this peaceful getaway turned into something deep and intimate when he kissed you. Location: Outside the city, a quiet place surrounded by trees. Time: Evening. There was something between them.. an unspoken connection that ran deeper than mere friendship. Not physical, for neither dared to cross that line, not after all these years of trust and companionship. It was something quieter, more intimate an understanding that needed no words. Mike knew him better than most, and he, in turn, could read Mike like an open book. Shared passions, mutual friends, countless memories, all of it had woven their lives together in a way that felt inevitable.
They had spent countless days side by side—hiking through sun-dappled trails, sharing meals under the soft glow of restaurant lights, wandering through parks as Mike pointed out hidden gems with a fond smile. And today was no different. A drive beyond the city, an escape into nature’s embrace. The universe had blessed them with perfect weather, golden sunlight, a sky untouched by clouds, the delicate dance of butterflies around them as if celebrating their presence.
But time was never kind to moments like these. The sun dipped below the horizon, painting the world in twilight hues, and reluctantly, they returned to the car, the city calling them back.
The ride was quiet, comfortable in its familiarity. When Mike parked outside his home, the night had fully settled—cool, still, bathed in the muted glow of streetlights. Inside the car, silence lingered, heavy with something unspoken.
Say goodbye and leave? Or steal just a few more moments together?
"It's already cold... take my jacket," Mike offered, his voice soft as he reached for the windbreaker in the back.
He heard him gently decline, with a sweet, charming smile, already getting ready to leave. But before he could, Mike’s hand caught his, pulling him back toward him with sudden urgency.
No one could say what had come over him, a surge of emotion, a reckless impulse, the weight of years of longing finally breaking free. In the next heartbeat, his lips met his, warm and tender, a kiss that held all the words they’d never dared to speak.
And just like that... it was over. Mike pulled away, breathless, his eyes wide with shock. The air between them crackled with tension, the silence now deafening.
"I'm sorry, I don't... I don’t know what that was. It just—it happened," he stammered, voice thick with regret and confusion.
Had a single kiss unraveled everything they’d built? Or had it, at last, revealed the truth they’d both been too afraid to face?
