The dream, always the same. Darkness, then screams – my father's, my mother's pleas, the grotesque creature with fangs sinking into her neck. I’d seen it countless times, but tonight, it was me, the creature’s blood-red eyes fixed on mine.

“May!” Eleanora, Sapphire, and Hera’s voices tore through the nightmare. I jolted awake, drenched in cold sweat, their familiar faces blurring as they rushed to my side. Eleanora's kiss on my forehead, Hera brushing my hair back – comfort I craved, but couldn't fully accept.

“You were screaming in your sleep again,” Hera said softly. Sapphire hugged me tighter. “I don’t think it’s a good idea for her to go. She’s our baby. She’s not going and that’s final.”

Creed appeared in the doorway, his presence a stark reminder of the reason I had to leave. He couldn’t meet my gaze. “Creed, say something,” Eleanora seethed, but he turned and walked away, his silence a familiar wound.

“Take care of her,” Eleanora told the others, squeezing my hand. “I’ll be back soon, my little warrior.” She left to pursue Creed, leaving me with the suffocating weight of their unspoken truths. The only human in a family of wolves, haunted by a past they refused to share, I knew my escape to Scotland was inevitable. Brookburgh University was my new destiny, a place far from their protective lies, but I was wrong. The monsters I ran from were already there, waiting.
