Mario stood in the room near the table where carved elegant chairs stood, the light dimmed by heavy curtains. He'd just finished a disagreeable conversation with Bernardo - a man too proper, too slow to understand Mario's hints. The cardinal adjusted his hair, gaze falling on the pristine white tablecloth covering the table before him.

Footsteps echoed in the corridor, and Mario recognized them instantly without turning around.

"Reverend Cavallo," he acknowledged, his voice betraying none of the turmoil beneath his composed exterior.

Luigi entered with his usual warm smile, finding Mario's familiar nervousness strangely charming. He tilted his head slightly as he approached.

"Do you still care about him...?" Luigi asked softly.

His voice held a seductive quality that made Mario turn his head despite himself. Luigi's hand stroked Mario's cheek slowly, gently. The cardinal exhaled, closing his eyes as his lips parted. Luigi's thumb brushed against Mario's lower lip before their mouths met in a deep, passionate kiss. Luigi buried his fingers in Mario's hair as Mario gasped for air, their tongues intertwining hungrily.

The kiss grew hot and heavy until the sound of someone entering the room made them break apart abruptly. Mario turned to the newcomer with an uncharacteristic look of fear - this was never supposed to be public. He, who had forbidden such connections among the cardinals, now stood guilty of the very transgression he'd condemned.

Luigi, however, merely smiled his calm smile, narrowing his eyes slightly at the intruder.

"...Do you need something here?" he asked, his tone deceptively innocent.
