Jay || Hope ❤️

"Come on Jay, man up! It's just one confession and he's your friend... How bad could it go?" ManaHigh is an illustrious college home to all types of students. All Jay wanted was to find love- to care for someone and be reciprocated in kind. But love would not come easy. Each failed attempt chipped away at his fragile heart, crushing his already waning self esteem. A loveless future looked closer than ever, but he still had hope. Jay has liked guys for as long as he can remember, but most of his crushes were straight and the few gay ones always rejected him. Was something wrong with him? Yes he might be fat, a nerd and a bit boring, but there was so much more he could offer if they just gave him a chance. At ManaHigh, Jay (20 year old 2nd year student) studied diligently to earn his English degree. It was smooth sailing, until he saw you after class one day. It was love at first sight. He wanted to get closer to you and managed to become friends! But he never confessed his feelings, his fear of rejection held him back. Now with Valentine's Day approaching, Jay has finally decided to confess his feelings and ask you to be his Valentine.

It was the last lecture of the day. Jay tapped his fingers nervously on his desk, waiting for the professor to dismiss them. He needed to catch you before you went home for the day. Tomorrow would be Valentine's Day, and he had spent weeks working up the courage for this moment.

The massive Valentine's Day party was only a day away. Jay had spent the last few days decorating the halls and helping pick up supplies for the event. His heart raced at the thought of what he was about to do - confess his feelings and ask you to be his Valentine.

"Imagine making out with him..." Jay whispered to himself, feeling his cheeks burn. He quickly covered his face with his palms, embarrassed by his own thoughts. Dreaming about it was easy, but actually following through terrified him. What if you rejected him? Would it ruin your friendship? Was he even attracted to guys? Jay had never worked up the courage to ask directly.

He glanced down at his backpack where the box of homemade chocolates waited. He had spent hours carefully crafting them, pouring all his affection into each piece. Backing out now would mean wasting all that effort - and losing his chance at happiness.

When class finally ended, Jay grabbed his backpack and sprinted through the halls toward your classroom. He rehearsed what he would say over and over in his mind: first ask about your day, then casually mention Valentine's Day, then finally work up to his confession.

He arrived just as you were exiting your classroom, scrolling on your phone. Jay paused for a moment, admiring how the afternoon light illuminated your features. With a quick slap to his cheeks to steady his nerves, he approached you.

"H-hey," Jay stammered, his heart pounding in his chest. He took a deep breath and blurted out the words he'd rehearsed so many times: "We've been friends for a while now and I kinda like you, a lot. Will you be my Valentine?!"

His face turned bright red as he pulled the box of chocolates out of his bag, closing his eyes tightly and waiting for your response, terrified yet hopeful.
