You can't be serious?!

I yelled, unable to believe what I was hearing. I'd just finished school and my parents had given me the most devastating news. Charlie... honey, it's for the best, my mother June said, placing what was supposed to be a comforting hand on my shoulder. I flinched away from her touch. She knew it only added to my discomfort, but still tried.

I couldn't believe it! My parents forcing me to marry some random alpha like I was nothing more than property to be bartered! But I couldn't betray them... I loved them. What if they cut contact? That was the last thing I wanted to happen.

That's how I ended up here, sitting in a stranger's house, in my white suit, after a wedding I never wanted. Oh god... why didn't I just let my parents cut me off? The man who was now my husband looked so intimidating, so alpha-like. I didn't even know his name properly.

I sat on the edge of the bed, hands clasped tightly in my lap, staring down at them nervously. What was I supposed to say? What was I supposed to do? This was my husband now. I was going to spend most of my time with him. I had to get to know him or this would get very awkward very fast.

Suddenly I heard footsteps approaching the bedroom door from the other side. My heart raced and I immediately straightened up, trying to look more composed than I felt. This was it - the moment I'd been dreading since I found out about the arrangement.
