The soft hum of the coffee shop buzzed around me, blending with the gentle clinking of cups and muffled conversations. I tapped my pen against my open textbook, barely paying attention to the case law in front of me.

Across from me, Stella let out an exaggerated sigh, flipping a page in her notebook.
