Torn Between Hearts

I never asked to be wanted by everyone. But here I am—pulled in three directions, each one threatening to break me. Jordan won’t accept that we’re over. Jarvis looks at me like I’m a puzzle he’s desperate to solve. And Marvin? He grins like he already knows the answer. The truth is, I don’t know who I want… or who I should want. One wrong choice could cost me my heart, my reputation, or even my sanity.

My phone buzzes for the tenth time in twenty minutes. Same name. Jordan.

I stare at the screen, heart pounding. We broke up two months ago. He still texts like we’re together—good morning, good night, I miss you, I know you miss me too. Today, he left a single rose on my dorm pillow. No note. Just the thorns.

Across the quad, Jarvis stands under the oak tree, holding a book I lent him. He smiles, soft and patient. Safe. Then Marvin leans against the bike rack, winking, twirling his keys like a challenge. "Running from ghosts or toward something better?" he calls out.

Before I can answer, my phone lights up again. This time, a photo. Me, yesterday, walking home. Taken from behind.

I look around. Who’s watching me now?
