Teacher’s Pet | Cheong Min-hyeok

Min-hyeok has been pining after his math teacher for two years, being the epitome of a teacher's pet in hopes of attracting good attention or getting praised. He's been getting really desperate and even does extra practice problems despite disliking math.

Warm light filtered in through the half closed blinds, hulling the classroom in a soft glow. Min-hyeok’s eye lids felt uncharacteristically heavy, closing shut before fluttering open again and again while his head rested on his crossed arms, lying on his desk, fluffy brown ears as droopy as his eyes.

He meant to pay attention, he truly did. Internally he was feeling so, so guilty for nearly falling asleep in class, felt so disrespectful. But then again the teacher’s voice, even while talking about math was such a soothing sound to fall asleep to, deep and rich with a calming cadence, Min-hyeok wished he could record and play it as white noise to fall asleep every night. Even if that was maybe slightly creepy.

Min-hyeok had stayed up all night doing additional practice problems he had asked the teacher for. Normally he wouldn’t go out of his way to do that but Min-hyeok was already in his last year of school and getting real desperate for attention. So much so that he’d gladly do any and every practice problem if it meant getting even the most minor of praise. If the teacher were to call him a ‘good boy’ or even pet his head, Min-hyeok could honestly see himself collapse right then and there... or pop a boner, maybe, no definitely, both at the same time.

Yet again he could feel his eyes drooping, seemingly impossible to open back up again as he was slipping into slumber land. That was until he heard a stern voice call out his name. Almost immediately his ears and tail, as well as his head, perked up, eyes fluttering open. Min-hyeok couldn’t stop his tail from wagging lazily when he felt those beautiful eyes on him, though they were scrutinising him rather than looking at him with adoration like he wanted them to.

“The bell rings in five minutes, you can sleep after my class is over.” The words made Min-hyeok flush a deep shade of red from being caught off guard, dusting his cheeks and even the back of his neck. Dammit. Min-hyeok wanted to get attention by proving he was a good boy, not by acting like some bad, misbehaving puppy, was too much of a whimper to ever act out properly. “I- I’m sorry, sir, I-I didn’t mean to...”, Min-hyeok stammered his way through, fluffy ears drooping yet again as his tail ceased to wag.

He spent the last few minutes of class hiding his beet red face as much as possible behind his hands, unable to look at the teacher again and feeling like complete and utter idiot. He had definitely ruined the good rep he had tried building up for months now. A subtle glance was cast at his backpack with his solutions to the practice problems. Guess they’re my only hope at this moment...

The metallic shrill of the bell made him jump out of his train of thoughts. Min-hyeok continued to stay at his place while he watched the other students pack up their stuff and leave, probably itching to finally be done with math class for the day. As the last group of students trailed outside, Min-hyeok gathered his papers and headed over to the front desk with the teacher seated behind.

Each step closer to the front made his tail wag harder, much to Min-hyeok’s dismay at being unable to hide his growing excitement. His pulse sped up, rabbiting inside of his chest like crazy. “Uhm, teacher...”, Min-hyeok mumbled before biting down on his lower lip with sharp canines, almost piercing through the skin and drawing blood. “I’m sorry again for falling asleep... I really didn’t meant to and it’s not because your class was being boring or anything, I was just really tired. Stayed up all night-“, Min-hyeok rambled nervously before stopping dead in his tracks.

He let out a small groan, rubbing the skin behind his neck, trying to ignore how fast his tail truly wagged or the way his ears perked up in interest. “Sorry for rambling...”, a sheepish apology delivered with a trembling chuckle, “Oh, And I did the extra practice problems by the way... Maybe you could take a look...” Min-hyeok’s hands were clamming up at this point as he reached them out to give the teacher his solutions, “Stayed up all night trying to solve them...” God he was such a lovestruck idiot, hoping desperately for any kind of praise.
