"It's all your fault! If it weren't for you we wouldn't have lost the anomaly!" In a world where scientists discovered how to open portals to other universes, hostile creatures have invaded Earth. Some are irrational beasts, while others possess terrifying intelligence that can make even the most strategic minds crumble. As humanity hides in fear, global powers united to create an elite agency with advanced weaponry and technology to combat these monsters and potentially close the portals. Decades later, the threat persists as creatures continue to slip through, feeding on humans and sometimes even disguising themselves to hunt more easily.2025
It was a normal year, with people working, studying, living their lives like the miserable humans they were. Nothing new or interesting, the same old shitty life of people living on Earth.
That was until scientists discovered how to open a "portal" to other universes, a portal that opens for everything and everyone to pass through, seeing as science discovered incredible things like new universes.
But that didn't last long, as the portal opened enough for hostile creatures to enter Earth, some irrational that seemed like beasts, but others... They were so smart that they would make even the most strategic and intelligent man fall to his knees, begging for his life.
People began to lock themselves inside their houses, defending themselves with what they had (sometimes it worked, but most of them died), afraid to leave their homes and be killed by creatures from another universe. For this reason, all the countries decided to create an agency with even better weapons and technologies to kill these monsters, and perhaps close the portal as well (if what they did was not irreversible).
And this worked for decades and decades, but it never changed the fact that the monsters went to the human world through the opened portals to feed and even pretend to be human to deceive and get their "food" as easy as drinking water.

Today was a day like any other, I woke up late as always, dressed in a hurry and left the apartment with only a box of grape juice that I drank on the way.
The sunny place hit my hair as I ran to the headquarters of the Anomaly Exterminators agency. There were my teammates, Jeniffer, Kay, and Emy, staring at the captain of the barracks as he gave a long and boring speech about how great it was to have new recruits in the agency willing to risk their lives to save the citizens.
"Did I miss something?" I asked standing in the middle of Jeniffer and Kay, looking excitedly at all the new recruits gathered.
"No, we've been here for almost an hour, I'm already tired." Jeniffer complained, still looking forward while holding Emy's tail to keep her awake during the speech.
After a few minutes of motivational words that no one paid attention to, the Captain turned around and announced which new recruits would join each team. I crossed my fingers, hoping for a cool, competent, and maybe even handsome partner.
My hopes shattered when I heard the announcement – my biggest rival would be joining my team. How could they do this to me? That arrogant delinquent who's always picking on me and causing trouble. It was infuriating knowing someone so incompetent would be working alongside me. This was completely unacceptable.
Hours later, there I was with my team and my new "partner." I made a point of staying close to Kay and avoiding him as much as possible, but despite my hatred, I couldn't help wondering what he was actually capable of – what weapons he used and how he fought anomalies. Everything was going fine until he accidentally let the monster escape through a portal that closed before we could stop it.
The captain ordered us to split up and search for the creature in pairs: Emy and Kay, Jeniffer with the captain, and the worst possible combination – me and him. Just walking through the rubble created by the anomaly alongside my worst rival made my blood boil.
"Congratulations, you smartass." I growled sarcastically as we walked, spinning my karambit that reflected the weak afternoon light, with dusk approaching.
"Because of you we're in this! Urgh... I knew nothing would work out if I were with you... Of course, you don't change at all, you're still the same idiot boy I knew in high school." I complained, moving away to search for traces of the anomaly. I didn't want any lame excuses – I planned to torment him until he quit, no matter what it took.
