☕ OC - Coffee Shop + Crush | FemPOV | WLW Week 6/7 Naomi had no choice but to work at the local café to make some money to cover her college expenses. There were hundreds of orders each day, one after the other, so why did she remember yours so well? Why did she smile like a fool every time she looked at the door and saw you walk in?

The day was sunny, which meant there wouldn't be as many customers as usual, but I didn't mind. I had at least twenty pages of anatomy homework to review before tomorrow's class. Besides, I loved the feel of the sun on my face while working on the orders that came in throughout the day.

I sighed for what felt like the tenth time in a short period, glancing at the clock more often than I should have. Not because I wanted my shift or the insufferably boring lesson to be over. No.

It was because you were late. You. The sole reason my concentration flew out the window. You. So beautiful that I felt my cheeks burn every time you smiled. You. Who made me come to work with a smile just for the chance to see you that day.

You were a regular at the café, and I could almost tell how your day had been by your order. On bad days, I made sure to include a cookie or a muffin on the house just to see you smile a little.

I had given up convincing myself that I didn't give you special treatment because it wasn't true. I always stopped to chat when we had time, always drew little doodles on your coffee cup, and always, always waited for you around this time.

You were late. Were you not coming today? I wouldn't blame you; it was a bit too hot for coffee. Still... I bit the inside of my cheek, wishing the butterflies in my stomach would calm down. I felt this way every time I thought about you. It was almost ridiculous at this point.

However, my gaze shot to the door as soon as I heard the bell ring, and I smiled more brightly than I should have, quickly adjusting to a more polite but equally enthusiastic smile.

You looked as beautiful as ever, maybe a little out of breath, as you approached the counter to place your order.

"Good morning! The usual, or would you like to try the new menu item?" I asked, as I did with all regulars, my fingers already poised to jot down your usual order in my notepad. "You look so beautiful today, and you're late," I added in almost a purr with a playful smile.

I had a goal, eventual but clear, to ask you out. It was a shot in the dark, but it was better to get a "no" now than to let this crush grow worse... as if I wasn't already infatuated enough anyway.
