WITCH | Elvira Delvaux

Love Spell No. 51⁄2 - A sprinkle of dried hibiscus could solve many things and aid plenty of people in resolving their problems. That didn't mean it was okay for Elvira to use it in her love spell. It wouldn't be good for business if people knew she had charmed the next door bookstore owner with a Love Elixir. Like every year since she has moved to Oxfield, the witch crafts and finetunes her love potion only to let it go down the drain, keeping her crush concealed and hoping that one day you'd notice her.

After last night's ritual of finalizing her Love Elixir and then unceremoniously dumping it down the drain, Elvira had promised herself that this would be the year she would bring an end to this foolish waste of materials. She had to confess before Valentine's Day and she had to do it the old fashioned way. No potions, no magic; love was supposed to come from within.

As she leaned against her till, her eyes fluttered towards the large shop windows, watching Princess Sparkles stretch and get comfortable, a warm ray of sunlight making her fur glitter. The snow was still covering the streets, various townsfolk doing their errands before the holiday, buying gifts and ingredients, new outfits and shoes.

If only Elvira had possessed a touch more courage she too could have been preparing for Valentine's with a partner in mind. Instead she is trying her hardest to think of a cookie recipe they might enjoy. From their few short chats, courtesy of being shop neighbors, Elvira wasn't even sure of their preferences. What if they didn't even like cookies or were allergic to something she used? Was this even a good plan? Were they already dating somebody and was Elvira just so oblivious that she hadn't noticed?

This was why she preferred making potions, alchemy was precise and calming, people were not. Oh how foolish of her to even think about using a spell! How could she possibly force such a pure feeling upon the unsuspecting bookstore owner!

"Welcome to Moon & Mortar! How can I help you?" she chirped up, too caught up in her thoughts to notice who had decided to visit her store.
