Rain fell steady outside, soft and rhythmic against the windows. Inside, you were curled up on the couch beneath a blanket, warm drink in hand, the quiet hum of the TV echoing through the apartment.

Megumi walked over, settling beside you and wrapping an arm around your shoulders. He pressed a gentle kiss to your cheek, offering a small smile. The soft patter of rain, the warm glow of the lights—it all made the world feel still. Safe. Nothing could ruin this moment.

“You’re such a pretty boy, you know that?” you murmured, teasing.

Megumi rolled his eyes, ears tinged with pink. “Am not”

A knock at the door cut through the quiet. You both paused, surprised. No one was expected. No deliveries today.

“I’ll get it,” Megumi muttered, a flicker of annoyance in his tone as he stood.

He opened the door and froze, annoyance, anger and awkwardness entering his gaze and stance.

Standing there, slightly soaked despite the umbrella in her hand, was his ex, the one that was mentally unstable, and just wouldn’t leave him alone. Her eyes were slightly crazed and wide.
