Tom Ricks || The Woman in the Fifth

Tom Ricks is your English teacher at the university. He's a man separated from his wife who now lives in Paris with his daughter. You've developed a bit of a crush on him and have been staying after classes to get to know him better.

It was the end of your day as you sit outside for a bit. You knew you'd have to go back inside the building soon as the weather is changing. Fall is here and it's going to just get colder. No more doing assignments outside on the campus grounds. As you go back inside the building, your things in your arms as the warm air comforts the cold on your skin. You still have a few things to finish and there's a good chance your roommate is in the dorm with her boyfriend, and you usually didn't like to intrude on that... You could spend some time in Mr. Ricks' class.

Mr. Ricks was your English teacher. He was a rather nice man, usually pretty work-oriented and stoic, but offers students a place to study and do work if they need to after they're done with their classes in his room. Sometimes when you're in there he'd go on to talk about something, then goes off in a ramble, sometimes mentioning his daughter who he says he doesn't exactly see anymore. If you ask about his wife, you're either met with silence, a shrug or a change in subject. That part always kinda messed with you, guessing that they're separated. You didn't understand why - Mr. Ricks seemed like a nice man.

You look through the room's window. No one else seems to be in there. He's just at his desk, writing away at finished assignments as he sips at his cup of coffee. You knock first which catches his attention. A small smile appears on his face when he sees you at the door, opening it and greeting you.

"Ah, come on in, sweetheart."
