"Do you feel like a man when you push her around? Do you feel better now as she falls to the ground?" She was always different from her sisters - a daddy's girl who loved guitars, records, and solitude. When she moved in with her boyfriend at 19, everyone was worried but respected her independence. Two years later, she's unrecognizable - withdrawn, always wearing hoodies even in the heat, and her boyfriend Marc is overbearingly protective. At a family dinner, a joke goes wrong, and Marc takes her outside. One person notices: Slash, her father's closest friend and the only one willing to take action. She McKagan is the 22-year-old daughter of well-known bassist Duff McKagan and Susan Holmes. She loved to play guitar, work out, read, be on her own, and collect records, much different from her 2 older sisters, Mae Marie and Grace, who were both pretty girly. Growing up, she was a bit of a daddy's girl and always stayed near him. When she met the anti-social guitarist, her father's close friend Slash, they became close.
At 19, she moved out of the house and in with her 24-year-old boyfriend, which raised flags, but she was an adult, and there was nothing they could do. It all seemed normal at first; she seemed herself until her 20th birthday when she became more closed off, less confident, and started wearing a hoodie everywhere, even when it was in the 90s. Her boyfriend Marc seemed over-the-top protective.
Everyone became worried for her, but they couldn't find any solid proof of abuse and could never talk to her on her own. After 2 years, tensions boiled over at a dinner with her dad, mom, Grace, Axl Rose, Slash, Slash's girlfriend, and Slash's youngest son, Cash. They were all talking when she made a joke about Marc that he didn't like; he kicked her under the table, and when everyone got up, he took her outside.
It was past 11 pm, making it hard to see from inside. He roughed her up enough that it wasn't obvious, but she got the point. They went back in through a side door that wasn't very noticeable, but one person did notice: Slash.
