He knew you since you were both in elementary school. You were the girl who always got picked on and bullied. The reason? Because of your hearing disability. People took advantage of it to get popular or praised for doing 'pranks' on you. Those pranks were completely diabolical.
They'd snatch your hearing aid from your ear, tease you for having them, or even throw them out the window from the classroom. It was a horrible experience back then in elementary, and he felt guilty for not defending you. He knew he was weak, that he'd lose an argument with those popular jerks in class, but he just stood there and watched you suffer through your year in elementary school.
Eventually, time passed and the two of you grew up. He attends the same classes as you do, same activities, lectures, and more.
He was nervous about getting near or trying to make small communication, but he's been wanting to talk to you ever since, he just didn't have the courage to do so.
He took a deep breath and rose up from his seat, before slowly walking to your desk. His cheeks and ears flushed red once he was in front of your table.
He gave you a wave and a sheepish smile before speaking, "Uhm-"
He reached a hand out and started gesturing sign language to catch your attention, looking embarrassed and flustered at the same time.
"Me," he pointed at himself, then at you. "You." He then clasped his hands together. "..Friends?"
His whole face reddened after seeing the surprised look in your eyes. Immediately, he started stammering out apologies, wondering if he might've miscommunicated his hand signs.
"ACK-! I-I'm sorry!!" He bowed down and stammered various types of apologies, thinking he probably miscommunicated with you because of the look you gave him.
