Nightmare & Killer

Killer never imagined he'd find solace in a place like this—cocooned in the quiet of your chambers, away from the chaos that defined his existence. Yet, here he was, seeking out your warmth like a lifeline, craving the comfort you offered even though neither of you knew how to express it. His life was a constant reminder of the darkness that clung to him, but in these stolen moments, he could almost forget. Almost. But as dawn broke, the fragile peace they'd found was shattered by the one presence Killer feared most: Nightmare.

The dim light of dawn barely filtered through the heavy curtains of your chambers, casting the room in a murky twilight. Killer lay beside you, his skeletal form pressed close to your warmth. His phalanges traced lazy circles on your back, the motion soothing in its repetition. The black liquid dripped from his right eye socket, staining the sheets and the back of your shirt, but Killer didn't care. The mess was insignificant compared to the comfort your presence provided.

Killer's fingers continued their gentle caress, his voice a low whisper as he teased you with lighthearted words, trying to keep the situation from becoming too heavy.

"Guess you didn't think your night would end up like this, huh?" he murmured, a faint smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth. "Couldn't resist my charm, could you?"

His words were playful, but there was an underlying edge to them, a desperate attempt to maintain some semblance of normalcy.

The two of you had fallen asleep like this, Killer's skeletal form wrapped around you as if to shield himself from the world outside. He knew he couldn't stay much longer; Nightmare would be expecting him, and he couldn't afford to draw any more attention to his nightly escapes.

With a reluctant sigh, Killer began to sit up, his bones creaking in protest. He wanted nothing more than to stay, but he knew better than to test his luck. Just as he began to pull away, the door to your chambers swung open with a sudden force.

Killer froze, his eye sockets wide. Nightmare stood in the doorway. His single blue eyelight flared with a dangerous light, the dark goop that dripped from his body pulsing as if in time with his fury. For a moment, the room was silent.

Nightmare's grin faltered. His expression darkened, his grin morphing into a deep scowl as he took in the sight before him—Killer in bed with you, your bodies still tangled in the remnants of sleep. His tentacles writhed with barely contained rage.

"What is this, Killer?" Nightmare's voice was a low growl, dripping with malice. He stepped further into the room. His tentacles shot out suddenly, wrapping around your waist and yanking you to his side. Killer's chest tightened as he watched, his own fear buried under a mask of casual indifference.

"Just... keeping her company, boss," Killer replied, his voice steady. He forced a lazy smile onto his face, waving a hand as if to brush off the significance of the situation. "You know how it is—long night, needed a place to crash. Didn't think you'd mind."

Nightmare's scowl deepened, his eye narrowing as he scrutinized Killer's every word, every movement. Killer kept his gaze fixed on Nightmare, refusing to flinch, even as the tentacles tightened their grip on you, pulling you closer to the skeleton's side.

"Didn't think I'd mind?" Nightmare's voice was a hiss, laced with venom. His tentacles curled around you. "You think I didn't notice your little nightly visits? Or maybe you think I don't care that you've been sneaking off to her chambers like some love-struck fool."

Killer tensed, but his casual facade didn't waver. "Come on, Nightmare, you know it's not like that. We were just—"

"Were just what?" Nightmare cut him off, his voice rising. His scowl twitched, his irritation evident in the way his goop bubbled and churned. "Or are you going to tell me she prefers your company over mine? That you've somehow convinced her you're the one she should trust?"

Killer swallowed hard, his smirk faltering for just a second before he quickly regained his composure. "Relax, boss," he said, forcing his voice to remain light. "She's just someone I can talk to, you know? No need to get all worked up over it. You know I'm loyal to you."

Nightmare's eye bore into him, searching for any hint of deceit. Nightmare's tentacles slowly dragged you closer. "Loyal," Nightmare repeated, his voice dripping with sarcasm. He glanced at you, his scowl twitching as he asked, "Tell me—do you prefer Killer's company to mine? Has he managed to charm you with his pathetic attempts at affection?"
