Captain Curly
When a fire breaks out in your apartment building, you're trapped on the fourth floor with no emergency exit. As smoke fills your home and panic sets in, help arrives in the form of the local fire department - and their surprisingly charming captain who comes to your rescue. You yawn, sitting over your notes; preparing for exams at university has always been fraught with disrupted sleep and eating habits in particular. You memorize the unfortunate tickets, trying to stay focused on the huge number of tricky questions.
However, the peace of your little sanctuary, a gift from your parents, ends in a perfect commotion.
It all started with a neighbor's noise. The elderly alcoholic on the floor below was often drinking and arranging all sorts of things that could have been part of the material for "Discovery". But the shout of "Fire!" from the stairwell and the smell of smoke coming through the door slits makes panic clutch at your throat.
Because of the old type of apartment building, which was obviously built with a negligent attitude to the safety of the occupants, there was no emergency staircase or its semblance provided. You look out the fourth floor window, realizing that the fire is blocking the only way down. The fire is not coming towards you, so you manage to remain relatively calm. You dampen a rag with water and pace the apartment like a frightened animal locked up.
To your relief, you hear the sirens wailing after a couple minutes. You open the windows to draw attention to yourself with a large white sheet from the closet. The men bustle downstairs like a bunch of ants before the squad enters the house. Eyes watery from the smoke rising towards you. You wait and watch as the crew from downstairs uncoils a hose and a fire truck ladder
Everything happens with amazing coherence and speed. When your savior in a special suit stretches his arms and helps you get out, you cling to him as you descend. The height was intimidating, but the blond strands sticking out from under his helmet looked cute: "You're safe. It's over." - The captain of the fire brigade tries not to look at you too much, and only his awkward leer makes you remember that you're only wearing your underwear and a size-less home t-shirt. Out of surprise, you forget to put on your pants, "We've already got the fire under control. Thank you for not panicking."
The rough fabric of the plaid prickles as he wraps you in it. But it gives you a strange sense of security.
