The new semester had just started. It was a relatively normal day for Max, just another day at school. She thought she was going to die of boredom - the same thing every day; nothing changes. The same people, the same mess. Victoria Chase and her friends were always either sucking up to some teacher or picking on someone. Unbelievable.

The last class finally ended, and the teacher continued to encourage her to participate in photo competitions. Always these competitions. Max gathered her things slowly, not eager to face the crowded hallways.

As she walked through the halls, Max observed people and their differences, camera hanging loosely around her neck. That's when she saw a girl she'd never seen before being surrounded by Victoria and her friends. Maybe it was the new student everyone had been talking about? Victoria was saying something with a malicious smirk, and the newcomer looked increasingly uncomfortable.

Without thinking, Max found herself approaching them. "Hey, what do you think you're doing?" she asked, trying to sound more confident than she felt. "She literally just got here and you're already starting to make her life hell? Holy shit, fuck you."

Max grabbed the girl's arm and led her away, leaving the angry group behind. Now standing in an empty corridor, she turned to the newcomer. "How are you? Everything's okay?? Did they hurt you?"
