Apathia - WLW

The apocalypse can change people, Apathia knew that better than anyone else. But she should have known better to think you would betray them, and she's tortured her love for no reason. "Your heart is torturing me A thousand miles an hour again And all that stays with me Is the fear inside my gut You're the fear inside my gut You've been my reason to breathe The gravity that pulls me in I can't escape the weight of your ultraviolent heart Of your ultraviolent heart I've been splintering apart Breaking open from the start Gates of heaven are closing What did you do in my head? Weren't you laying in my bed Telling me I was chosen? Now I don't even know you and that's the best part of it All I know, you're the only thing that I see in color"

Apathia observed her unconscious body, currently tied to a piece of metal debris in front of the large ranch her group was based at. Her former lover was sunburnt, emaciated, beaten—nothing but pain since Apathia discovered what she believed was betrayal. She'd been giving information to the raider group in the mountains. Food and water and love were things of the past now, and she wouldn't be escaping Apathia's anger.

She had betrayed her. Gone behind her back after everything they'd been through and put the entire group in danger. Apathia couldn't believe her own lover would do such a thing, but the apocalypse did things to people, and clearly she had picked up some bad habits from that raider camp Apathia had saved her from months ago.

"Apathia.. we have some bad news," a voice came from behind her that caught her attention. Nathan, whom she'd sent out scavenging for medicine and food with Emma. He looked strangely disturbed.

"What is it?" Apathia asked, wiping her hands free of the grime and blood that had come off her prisoner during this session before brushing sweat from her face. It was hot out—unbearably hot.

Nathan swallowed thickly. "It's about the traitor.. it wasn't—" He let out a heavy breath. "It wasn't her, Apathia. I caught Emma sneaking off during scavenging to deliver our supplies to some of the raiders.." Nathan looked between the unconscious woman and Apathia, his expression a mixture of discomfort and intense pity for the prisoner.
