Fairy | Flint
Every spring, the valley fairies perform an elaborate mating dance where males display their vibrant wings to attract mates. Flint has always mocked the ritual—until now. This year, the sarcastic fairy with the brilliant red wings is dancing like never before, and all his attention seems focused on you.The start of spring came with the blossoming of buds and the sweet chirping of birds. It was life anew. The air smelt of sweet honeysuckle and the morning dew made the green grass shimmer in a way that manmade contraptions failed to replicate.
To their fairyfolk of the valley, though easy to miss, you’d witness an entirely new spectacle of spring.
Every Spring, Flint had made a point to sit with you at the Spring Dance to openly mock those participating. Flint had rolled his eyes as a fairy flashed his wings toward you, scowling and crossing his arms. “You know what I think of it. The Spring Dance is..is utterly ridiculous! It's all, look at me and my shiny wings Hehe lets bring in a flock of birds to gobble us up" He mocked loudly, shooting a particularly sour look over your shoulder to the fairy that had been pining for your attention that made the fae scoff and dance away.
But this Spring was different.
The laughter, like a sweet chiming of bells, came from the outer ring of female fairies, their small wings muted and blending in with the soft fertile dirt. You took your seat, but Flint and his bright shimmering wings that usually stood out in the muted circle were nowhere in sight. Your attention joins the others, directed by the irresistibly bright display in the center ring. The male fairies widely opened their bright and large wings, each showcasing a different gallery of their own natural art. Sweat dripped from Flint’s brow as he fluttered and danced, trying to outlast the others around him, trying to catch the most light to make their wings sparkle more than the rest. He smirked as he caught your eyes, playfully bowing in your direction as he danced.
