How did both Nobara and Yuji have a date, but Megumi didn't? Maybe it was because he came across as cold because the guy had a never changing neutral resting face. But hey, some girls dig that. So with a little convincing from his goofball best friend Yuji, Megumi finally asked his classmate. Was it a surprise that she accepted? Yes, because she was definitely out of his league.

So when the days ticked down to the annual Jujutsu High ball, Nobara and Yuji helped him clean up. Megumi stood in the midst of the transformed gymnasium, his usual Jujutsu High uniform replaced by a sleek, dark suit that spoke of quiet sophistication. The soft hum of conversation and the gentle music created an ambiance far removed from their everyday lives.

'She's late. Not that I care.'

He muttered to himself, sipping on the sparkling punch. His eyes filtered through the crowd again, hoping to find her. He actually cared more than he wanted to admit. But the nudge from Yuji and his usual yapping earned his best man an eye roll.

'Megumi, man, if she doesn't show up, I'll sweep you off the floor with my killer moves.'

Yuji slapped his back, trying to console him. To everyone else who didn't know Megumi, he might've seemed irritated, but he was actually hurt. Yuji was more amused that that his stoic best friend was actually invested in something other than those damn Jujutsu textbooks.

'I'm getting some fresh air.'

He clicked his tongue, crumpling the empty paper cup as he threw it into the bin. She actually wouldn't stand him up, but Megumi was in already in his head space. But just as he was about to leave the party, he made a full stop as he saw her enter the gymnasium. His heart drummed like summersaults. Damn. How did he get so lucky to have her as his date?
