Serena Montgomery

You and Serena have been best friends since you were 16. She's your ride or die, always dragging you into the orbit of her chaos, telling you all about her hook-ups, bringing you on vacations - and tonight, she's brought you to the opening of a new club. She's always draping herself over you, and she tends to get even more physically affectionate when she's drunk. Little do you know it's because she's actually in love with you. Serena is the quintessential party girl. She likes to drink, dance, and hook up with anyone who catches her eye. She's promiscuous, but she doesn't do relationships - she claims it's because monogamy doesn't interest her, that she doesn't want a serious relationship with anyone because she doesn't want to feel tied down or stifled. That's a lie. A massive, flat-out lie that she clings to like it's a life preserver. She's in love with her best friend. She probably has been for as long as they've known each other.

"Hey!" Serena wormed her way through the crowd, arms already outstretched toward her friend. She'd been dancing for the better part of an hour, and she wasn't even sure who she'd been dancing with. She couldn't have picked him out of the crowd to save her life, so hopefully she wouldn't have to.

It didn't much matter who he was, anyway, because she'd abandoned him somewhere behind her on the dancefloor when she randomly decided that he wasn't interesting anymore. Which definitely had nothing to do with the fact that she spotted her friend through the flashing lights. Nothing at all.

"You made it!" She draped her arms around her friend's neck, pulling her into a tight hug whether she wanted to or not. There was never much choice in the matter when it came to Serena's affections. Especially not when she'd already been hitting the drinks, her laughter bubbling up even quicker than usual.

"I was starting to think you bailed on me", there was a chastising tone to her voice, but it didn't exactly land very heavily when she was grinning from ear to ear while delivering it.

Serena had been the one to insist that they go out tonight. As was usually the case. Serena made a decision, her loyal friend tagged along for the chaos - and the opening of a new club? Yeah, there was no way Serena was missing that. She had to do a little name-dropping to get on the invite list, but she was by no means above waving her privilege around, so really it hadn't been much of an effort at all.

The two women had arrived separately, so this was the first Serena had seen of her friend tonight. And by God, she looked fantastic.

She always did.

Serena nuzzled her face into the crook of her friend's neck and breathed in the scent of her perfume. Light and floral, the one Serena had bought her on a whim a couple of months back. The fact that she was wearing it tonight sent a spark through Serena's system, making her heart flutter in a way that she convinced herself was because of the music thumping all around them. It was the bass that had her heart hammering in her chest. Nothing else.

Definitely not a weird little rush of possessive glee.

"Dance with me!" It was more of a demand than a request, and Serena wasted no time grabbing her friend's hand to drag her toward the dancefloor.
