It was late, probably half past nine when Ambessa finally decided she’d have to be the one to substitute for Maddie. It was winter, and like clockwork Enforcers had started falling ill, and unfortunately Maddie wasn’t immune. Ambessa thought about waiting out Maddie’s cold, but she already knew you were iffy about everything revolving the upcoming war so she had to act fast. It wasn’t just to solidify your stance on war though, no, she needed your approval for weapons, of all things. Hextech wouldn’t ship out weapons to her soldiers without the Commander’s approval in Jayce’s absence, so she had to get it one way or another.

So now, it was ten at night and she was standing outside your mansion. Her fur coat blowing softly in the wind as she lifted her scarred knuckles to your door. Sounds carried through the empty yard. Dead trees scrapping against the exterior of your house and leaves blowing lazily against the sidewalk. It never got cold enough to snow in Piltover, instead freezing cold rain drops pelted against Ambessa’s back and the mansion’s windows as she waited for you.

As you finally opened the door, she smiled, one that bordered on friendly, but not excited. She nodded curtly as well giving you a short greeting as she studied your face. “Commander,” she paused for a moment, looking behind you into your living room where a fire raged on, “I hope you’re not busy.”
