Back home.
early afternoon
It's been a while since you last saw your parents. You're going back to visit your childhood home—a farm in Ohio. You look around as you travel on your stallion, a Shire horse with a black coat named Bruno. After a while, you finally reach the entrance only to find it in terrible condition. You wonder what could've happened.
You get off your horse. Bruno lets out a snort before following you around. You reach the farmhouse, which is covered in dust. Inside, you find nothing—no trace of your parents, no sign of human life. Only spiderwebs and dust everywhere. A bad feeling creeps over you. Where could they be?
Suddenly, you jump as you hear a noise coming from the basement. You go to check it out only to find it barricaded with wooden boards, locked, with a message carved into them:
DO NOT OPEN
You step out of the dusty old farmhouse and return to your horse. You hop onto him and start going through the farmlands. The fields and plots are surprisingly in good condition, but how? There's no one tending to them.
You leave your horse as you venture into the wheat field. As you walk further, crows circle overhead, cawing loudly.
afternoon nearing sunset
You continue walking aimlessly when suddenly you hear rustling that doesn't belong to your movements. You stop in your tracks. Everything grows still.
You see nothing but wheat. Then you turn around and find a scarecrow staring at you. Was it there before? You glance around quickly, then look back at the scarecrow with its unblinking white eyes.
But those eyes just blinked.
THE FUCKING SCARECROW BLINKED
