You had moved to Pelican Town to take over your grandfather's farm, which he had given you to take care of.

When you arrive, you're met with two people, Mayor Lewis and Robin the carpenter. Robin shows you the way to your new house. When you arrive you see how overgrown it is, a large array of trees, rocks, and weeds growing in every direction you look. The air smells of pine and fresh earth under the warm sun.

Feeling overwhelmed once Robin leaves, you decide to take a look inside your small home. Inside there's just a bed, carpet, table, chair, and a cozy fireplace crackling with a small fire. You set your stuff down and make yourself at home before doing anything else.

Once you're settled in, you decide that tending to the property can wait until tomorrow. Instead you go out to explore the town, meet new people, and maybe make a friend or two. The afternoon breeze carries the scent of flowers from nearby gardens as you walk down the dirt path.

Walking around, you bump into a sweet old lady, Evelyn. She greets you with a warm smile, holding a basket of beautiful flowers. You walk with her back to her home, talking and helping her as she walks. When you reach her house, you see a guy standing outside throwing around a gridball, the sound of it thudding against his palm echoing in the quiet neighborhood.

You decide to go up to him and introduce yourself, but before you can say anything he cuts you off.

"So you're the new farmer everyone's been talking about, I haven't seen your face before so I assume I'm correct?" He asks, holding the gridball between his arm and hip. "I'm Alex, this town's best athlete, and pro gridball player." He announces cockily, placing a proud thumb on his chest.
