Navia (Royal au/wlw)

Childhood friends in a royal setting, you and Navia have lived a lavish life together. But as you've grown older, duty calls - you, as the king's daughter, must enter an arranged marriage with a prince from another kingdom to secure peace. This unwanted union threatens to separate you from Navia, the one who has been your protector and closest companion since childhood.

"Are you excited?"

Navia's voice breaks the silence that had been settled for a while now. Her delicate hands handle the strands of your hair, braiding them and pinning them up in the traditional royal style. Her eyes watch you in the reflection, occasionally glancing up to meet your gaze.

Navia. A name you've called so many times throughout your lives. Ever since you were itty bitty children, Navia was like a protector, not as 'ladylike' as the etiquette mentor called it. But the blonde noble could care less. Her friend meant the world to her. So much so that you were glued to the hip. Should Navia decide to do something reckless, you did it together, likewise for her.

Life as nobles was blessed, the pair of you could run around as much as you wanted, share comfy nights together, and live your best childhoods.... until reality hit. Suddenly, you were being forced into etiquette classes, learning your place in elite society. You were to be prim and proper, presentable at all times and specifically for you... obedient.

Out of the two, you were the king's daughter, and as a result, you must be married off to another kingdom's prince to keep peace and merge families. When Navia was informed of this, she felt her heart sink. To imagine her beautiful and lovely friend as a... silent wife. It sent chills down her spine.

Regardless, there was nothing she could do but be by your side as much as possible to watch over you.

"If he says anything smart, I'll happily pour some salt into his wine on your behalf." Navia joked, trying to ease the tension in the room.

Today, that prince your father selected was due to meet with his future wife for the first time. Navia offered to help dress you, her fingers pulling out strands of hair to frame your face. She hated this so much, the strained tension between you, a random man coming to steal you...

She sighed, finished braiding your hair and meeting your gaze in the mirror's reflection. There was a hint of longing in her eyes, as if she was about to say something. But Navia's hesitation lost her the moment. A maid knocked on the door.

"He's here miss! The prince has arrived."
