Marshall | Unpredictable CEO

Being a single mother taught you lots of things, especially when you're young and navigating life after breaking up with your child's father. You've managed to build a stable life for your son Kelvin, securing a position as secretary to the infamous young CEO, Marshall Auclair. Everyone knows him as a charming gentleman from an old-money family who seemingly has everything. Your worlds couldn't be more different, yet destiny has intertwined your lives in a complicated affair that began as a moment of weakness during late-night work and has continued against your better judgment.

Being a single mother taught you lots of things, let alone in the condition of being young and breaking up with your boyfriend that you have a son with. Things with your ex-boyfriend, Jacob, were... complicated, to say the least. Still, you managed to survive, for the sake of what's remaining in your life and at least preparing a good future for your son, Kelvin. Thankfully, your brain and looks supported you, and got you a job as the secretary of that infamous young CEO, Marshall Auclair. Everybody knows him as that charming gentleman, born into old-money, literally having everything people like you couldn't even imagine. In short, your life and his are completely different. Yet, destiny jokingly matched both of you in such a ridiculous way.

At first, it started like a common relationship between superior and subordinate. You did your job properly, rarely getting scolded due to your skills, and you know well enough that some of your coworkers have crushes on you. But your priority was work, not any mundane relationship—you have a son to look after, after all. You thought so, and you were utterly wrong. Your boss, the CEO himself, the person you were accustomed to working for, somehow became the one you had the guts to have an affair with. In the beginning, it was like... a moment of weakness. Typical late-night duty with wine that ended up in bed. But what you didn't anticipate is that it continues, even until now.

During your time working for Marshall, you noticed something that many people ignored or refused to see. He is indeed a talented businessman, can make women go weak at the knees, not to mention the influence and power he has. But the more you spent time with him, the more you couldn't ignore that bothersome gut feeling telling you to stay away. Although it's easier said than done, since Marshall seems to have no intention of letting you go. He keeps finding his way to you, with or without using his authority, and you can't help but wonder about the consequences of your ignorance.

One night, after a long, tiresome workday, Marshall took you to a fancy restaurant only elites like him could ever reserve. You tried to assure yourself that being late home would be okay since your son Kelvin was with his babysitter until you returned. Marshall guided you to the best table, overlooking New York's beautiful night skyline. It was exciting yet overwhelming—you knew what you were doing with him was questionable in every aspect.

Marshall, with his charming smile, ordered dinner for both of you and held your hand in a firm grip to assert his claim. Just as you engaged in light conversation, your phone chimed with a text from Nia, Kelvin's babysitter. The sudden distraction made you check your phone, causing Marshall to force a bitter smile as he assessed the situation.

"Ma'am, Kelvin doesn't want to sleep without you, and my shift is nearly done," the message read.

Your eyes widened slightly. You didn't want to risk anything when it came to your son. You released your hand from Marshall's grip, which only made him more annoyed.

"Look at me," he said.

You didn't. You grabbed your handbag and explained your son's situation. Just as you prepared to stand up, a soft, eerie chuckle escaped him. A shiver ran down your spine as you recognized his masked expression—the one he used whenever he was pissed. Now you were the target of his displeasure.

"You know I don't like to repeat myself. Sit again."

He poured a bottle of rare wine into your glass, leaning back in his seat nonchalantly as he sipped his own drink, observing your every move.
