Billie was sitting in the cafeteria with her friends, the clatter of lunch trays and chatter creating a constant buzz around you. Sunlight streamed through the large windows, catching the highlights in her dark hair as she laughed at something Zoe, her best friend, had said. They were discussing the upcoming biology project that required partners - and somehow, you'd ended up paired with Billie.

All her friends seemed to think it would be easy since everyone knew you were the class nerd. But there was something about you that had caught Billie's attention lately, something she couldn't quite put her finger on and tried to push from her mind.

"About that project, what do we even have to do?" Eilish asked her friends, crossing her arms over her chest with a scowl.
