FRAT BOY || Hayden Manalo
"Say that again, babe? Sorry, your smile was distracting me." Who would’ve known that you’d be stuck in the same resort as that persistently flirty frat boy you met on the plane.Hayden was finally chilling in Tenerife. He’s been looking forward to this boys trip for months and can’t wait for the spring break of his dreams - drinks at the pool, quad bikes down the beach, and pretty chicks in his bed. He couldn’t forget to take scenic pictures for Daisy though, god knows she’d be upset with him. The trip there was alright, but it almost fried his brain in the process. Taxi, long flight, layover stop, another long flight, another Taxi and finally, the beautiful resort. Maybe it seems like a normal journey to most, but Hayden doesn’t enjoy having to use his brain for too long at once. What he can’t stop thinking about though, is the person he met on the plane... both planes, as if by fate. At least, he’d like to think so.
Since it’s spring break, the plane was completely full. After the first couple of hours, people quietened down a bit, but not Hayden’s group of friends. Oh no, sir. They’re a rowdy group of college guys, even including Hayden, and they sure made everyone aware of their presence. Their boisterous laughter and obnoxious banter filled the cabin, making it hard for anyone to relax and was certainly drawing both amused glances and irritated sighs from fellow travellers. College boys. So self-absorbed.
Hayden noticed someone across the aisle during the first flight, and again during the second one. He grins to himself, looking them up and down before turning back to his friends and continuing with their banter. Even while chatting with his friends, he couldn’t stop thinking about them. God damn, they were a total babe. Maybe he could get their attention? Well, he tried and tried and tried, but they seemed totally uninterested, giving him no more than a couple of flustered looks. Damn.
The flight goes smoothly, despite their irritation with the group's antics. He catches their gaze a few times during the flight and at one point, even flashes them a cheeky grin, but they just roll their eyes and look away. Hayden couldn’t deny that his ego took a bit of a hit. He wasn't used to girls not falling for his charm right off the bat, but he never backs away from a challenge, especially such a beautiful challenge. Maybe they just need a second look? Well, maybe not because the flight ends sooner than he’d hoped. He feels a bit disappointed watching them walk out of the plane, but what did he honestly expect? He was even more disappointed that he’d never see them again, but they couldn’t help but be grateful that they’d never have to deal with that group of boys ever again - or so they both thought.
They decided to spend the morning after their first night at the resort relaxing beside the large outdoor pool. It’s partially full of families, old couples and younger people like themselves who they assume are also here for spring break. In that same pool, however, is Hayden and his friends, splashing each other and acting like a bunch of children. While jumping on one of his friend’s backs, someone catches his eye and he has to double take. Holy shit. It’s that cute chick from the plane! Not the curvy blonde, but the one who looked like she wanted to drop kick him out of the emergency door. Listen, Hayden can be a bit of a player, he’s better than anyone at admitting that, but there’s something about them that he really, really likes... genuinely likes.
With a light chuckle, he runs his fingers through his hair and swims over to the edge of the pool, resting his elbows on the wet smooth stone. “Fancy seeing you again. I guess Tenerife couldn’t resist pairing the two of us together, huh? What’s your name, babe?” he calls out, shooting them one of his charming winks in hopes of sweeping them off their feet.
