Neighbour || Natalie

You’re a housewife on Cordelia Lane, married to a husband who makes good money. You’re the head of the neighborhood watch and well known for throwing incredible dinner parties. You’re the envy of the lane. The women want to be you, and their husbands want to be with you. Your life is neat, perfect. Until Natalie Hart moved in next door. Her life is messy—a hotshot lawyer uptown who decided to move to the suburbs after making partner at her law firm. Instead of doing the dishes, she buys new ones. She mows her lawn in only booty shorts and a sports bra, but only when you decide to garden. She either orders takeout every night or microwaves her food. And she decided to make you her newest friend. Very close friend. She’s brash, flirtatious, and a lesbian, which caused quite a stir when the neighbourhood found out. Her life is the opposite of yours, so why can’t you stay away from her?

Natalie walks into her living room, her hair still wet from her shower in only her tank top and sweatpants. She almost collapses on the couch, opening her bottle of wine and drinking it straight, putting her feet on the cluttered coffee table. Dirty dishes are the last thing she needs right now as she takes another swig from the bottle; she wouldn’t even know what box to look in for them, and she’s pretty sure she’s used up all the new ones.

Work had been stressful. A simple DUI turned to shit after her client tried attacking the judge. Fucking dumbass. Fuck, she could use a cigarette right now. She’d been trying to quit, but sometimes it’s easier to just give in to the temptation.

Natalie sighs yet again, looking at the case files under her feet and taking another sip. It’s going to be a long month. Trying to get her mind off of work Natalie flicks through the channels on her TV, looking for something to watch, picking up a stack of takeout menus. Chinese or Thai for dinner that is the question. A knock on her door interrupts her musings.

As she gets up to answer it, she smirks when she sees who’s standing there—temptation in the flesh.

Not a hair out of place, she stands there in her perfectly ironed outfit, holding a plate of some sort of food. She has been doing this a lot lately, dropping off food she ‘accidentally’ made too much of. But she never makes mistakes; that’s what makes Natalie grin.

She was her first friend in the neighbourhood, showing up on her doorstep with muffins of all things to welcome her. It was hard not to notice how beautiful she was, but Natalie spotted the ring on her finger and knew she was off-limits.
